I REFER to this Saturday's letter from Mr. Sim Khae Bin 'Bus driver inconsiderate and rude'

A couple of senior citizens who are over 60 took SBS bus on this Tuesday. The old woman is handicapped and uses a walking stick so the old man asked the driver to move nearer the kerb when reached the bus stop. The bus captain refused his request and shouted that the bus was crowded when the old man asking for reason.

I am sorry to hear that. Senior citizens had contributed to the society when they are young. As the increase of the age, they gradually become disability. They need help and regard when they are old. Morally speaking, people should help them as much as they can especially the handicapped ones.

In addition, SBS Transit is a company that serve the public. Bus drivers have obligations to provide convenience to the passenger especially the elder and deformity. I think that SBS Transit should think about it.

I hope the public traffic can become better. All people live in a harmonious society.

  1. I strongly agree with you. SBS Transit is a company that serve the public, so they should not refuse the requirment of their passagers, especially to the senior citizens. In my opinion, maybe the bus company could set a report system to punish those rude bus drivers.

  2. I agrre with you that since senior citizens had contributed their life to society when they were young, we should respect them. i think the inconsiderate bus driver should imagine to change the position between the old man and himself. On the other hand, people should be responsible to what they have done, because life itself is educatio. If we hope there is no more such things, we should bot do it now to affect young generation. so people should take care of the weak, be patient. Every one takes a small step, the whold society will become more harmonious.

  3. I strongly agree with you.Firstly, the senior citizens had great contribution to the society, which is far more than us. Therefore,we should give them the highest respect. Since they become disability as the increse of the age, we should try our best to take care of them and help them even if it is a small thing.Secondly, as the writer said,SBS Transport is a company that serve public, so they have responsibility to help passengers especially the weak. The company should think about it and take some measures to improve their service. Besides, everyone should take actions and contribute ourself to make the society more harmonious.

  4. “Senior citizens had contributed to the society when they are young", well said! This fact often gets ignored or forgotten when we look at wizened old men or women. Just consider how mch they have contribute to this country when they were young, everyone is supposed to be gateful to them, respect them and help them.

In addition, it is not only bus drivers' obligation to provide convenience to passengers. As a citizen, to respect and help old people is also the fundemental morality.
