I REFER to this Saturday's letter by Ms. Radiah Baba, 'Police officer taking his time to investigate accident '.

In this letter, she firstly told about the traffic accident her husband and relatives had last month. Her family got many troubles in insurance claim and were caught in a predicament. What has made her most upset was the attitude of the police investigating officer. She was at a lost and was anxious that the police can expedite
investigations.

I understand the situation Radiah is in and I would like to share her pain.I am also glad that they are all alive. For her question, firstly, I want to point out that even with death, it still take some time to investigate. The police has to follow rules to ensure justice. They could not simply rule out the fact that someone could be at fault. Besides, there is a lot of work behind the accident, and there are many accidents every day. In addition, there are other more urgent accidents than hers. Therefore, the police needs many time to work on these cases for further and better investigation.

On the countrary, I hope some higher authority will take some measures. They could improve their management and change some process reasonably to improve the efficiency of the police. It could make them better serve the victims and make the best possible to minimize their loss.

At last, I hope Ms Radiah Baba can relax and be calm. Most importantly, take care of the health at this moment.

  1. I agree that the authority should speed up the investigation. As the lady mentioned in the letter, the policeman said he had two years to complete his investigation. For a lady who have to ferry five children to their schools, it will be a disaster if she cannot have her car back even in two days. Isn't it a little bit ridiculous that the police man mentioned something ‘two years’? I really hope that the government can change the policy a little bit to speed the procedure up.

I understand that there will be a fixed procedure for investigation. There will be a lot of processes before we can get to the end of the case. However, I think there will still be some parts that we can squeeze into one. Time really matters for everyone. My family also came across some car accidents. It takes a lot of time for the insurance company to investigate. Meantime, you must protect the spot, which means you should just leave the car there, damaged. It will be another story if you want your car repaired. Hence, I know the annoyingness of waiting. It will delay many important things. I really hope the policy can be changed.

Again, I hope authorities can really pay attention on this case. If the speed is raised, everything will be efficient.

  2. I understand the trouble that Radiah gets in. I also understand the authority needs time to deal with the accident. I hope them can understand each other and have a better cooperation. The lady needs her car more than others, so the authority could consider that cause as a special cause and process it in a special and faster way. The lady would better calm down to think about how to ferry her kids.

I had experienced some car accidents. People do need time to find a way that could make both sides satisfied. I noticed that they were allways arguing some inessential questions. I think these questions is nothing comparing with five children and slould skip or discuss later.

At last, I hope that accident could have a efficient disposal.

  3. From Francois:
Whenever an accident happens there would be a long term dealing with the problem. I admit that the attitude may be to some extant annoying, but most of the time the policemen just cannot not give you the proper reply. How soon they solve the case is not depend on your urgency, but on the sequence of related judicial practice, otherwise what they do will offend their regulation.

On the other hand, though the it’s their obligation to help, the police are not private detectives who get commission paid from you, and they are not professional enough in the insurance field and law field—so you were asking the wrong person. In this case it’s suggested to get answer from the lawyer’s house. They know how to cooperate with police and get the information you need. Only going to the police and ask does not make sense.
