The Comment:

Recently, there was an earthquake happened in Haiti. This article meanly talked about the struggle of people in Haiti and the circumstance of aid. This reminds me of the Wenchuan earthquake happened in China in 2008. We can still remember the scenes of collapsed buildings and crying people. The feeling of helplessness in front of nature is still fresh. The world gave us another shock, Haiti’s earthquake.

Now, the aid is the most important thing to the victims. We can see many countries are sending their troops to Haiti to rescue those who are still buried under the ruins. However, there are so many refugees who need shelters, food and medicine. The insufficiency of goods actually caused chaos. Because of different policies, unlike China, there are many robberies happened to shops. The police also did not do their work well. Maybe the control of the refugee area is also very important. The ignorance of it may cause extra death.

People in Haiti are waiting for the aid thirstily. I think the aid arrived too late. Every minute counts in rescue. However, different countries may have different reasons which we cannot conjecture, but I really hope the aid can arrive at the first place. Now, I really wish people in Haiti can get through this hard period. We still get time. We still have hope.

After all the tsunamis and earthquakes, it seems that we start to face more natural disasters than we expected. What should we do? Will we be faced the situation of 2012? Is negative protecting the only thing we can do? I think the protection of our earth should be taken serious.

  1. Firstly, I agree that we should protect our earth. I’ve seen the movie 2012, I could feel the helplessness and despair when people are facing natural disasters. I could feel how frail humans are. I think people should not have the mind of conquering nature. If we do damage to nature, it will retaliate we in the end. Only if we respect nature and protect it will we survive.
Secondly, although I hope Haiti can get aid as soon as possible, Haiti should not be waiting for other’s help passively. Haiti will go through the disaster with the help of other countris, but what will it be after that? It is known that Haiti is very poor. If it is just accepting help from others, there will be no changing in its situation. There is a saying goes that god helps those who help themselves. Haitians should make more efforts to help themselves. Only they themselves can save their country.

  2. I agree with you to some extent. People in Hanti are facing quite a big challenge. Firstly, they must try their best to save the people who may be still alive in the ruins. The rescue should be carried on quickly and efficiently. It is a race against time. Thus, it need the efforts from not only the local people, but also the rescur personnel from other places. Secondly, they came across the shortage of relief aid materials, such as food, medicine and shelters. Although people from all over the world have helped the refugees a lot, the problem is still serious, which even causes the instablity of the area.
Compared with the Wenchuan Earthquake in China, I think Chinese government had done a better job in rescue and rebuilding. They put the safety of people's lives and belongings on the first place and sent enough relief items to the disaster area quickly. Even some psycologists were sent there to help people to recover and be more confident.Everything went on efficiently, which indeed saved more people and minimize the damages. The government of Haiti and local people should do more to help themselves out of the disaster, not only to rely on or to wait for others' help.

  3. The mess caused by the quake can be seen in every aspect. Absolutely , rescuing is the most urging thing the government should consider. However, as for this reason, government may reduce the stongth of controling in other aspects such as the security of the society. Human resource is limited and this problem is inevitable.

I do not think the rescue is not on time. There is the fact that the ruin produced by the quake will increase the work of rescuing a lot and it will takes more time. Transportation system has been seriously destroyed and the delay of rescue is reasonable .
